“Quick, keep moving! Don’t look back! Keep moving!”.

The sky was a swirl of black and grey with white sparks of lightening that quickly formed and then vanished. Twelve individuals were sprinting as fast as their legs could, moving up a huge spiraling staircase that was exposed to the elements of the outside. A storm was forming leaving the air cold, each person’s warm breath now a visible cloud escaping them. “We’re almost there, don’t slow down!”. The group were heading towards the highest landing platform in the vicinity, their diplomatic crusade ship was now their waiting for them. Five marines lead the group, all dressed in a white military suit and armed with a black rifle. Behind them were four diplomats of mixed species, and dressed in red ceremonial robes. Guarding from behind were three Jedi dressed in their usual Jedi robes. The only one that spoke was the one furthest at the back, Jedi Master Koal.

Eventually they reached the top, revealing an enormous circular platform, probably two hundred feet in diameter. The platform was made of solid metal and a mesh fence, no taller than seven foot ran around the entire circumference. The ship’s ramp dropped and the marines dispersed giving one quick scout of the area. With the coast seemingly clear, the diplomats ran straight onto the ship and were quickly followed by the marines and one of the Jedi. The Jedi Master did not run onto the platform and simply stood still at the bottom. The younger Jedi, a human boy, was already half way up the ramp and turned his body. .

“Master, what are you waiting for?”

“Damien. I need you to go ahead without me. Take the diplomats to a safe location and I will join you shortly.” Whilst the Jedi Master often sounded calm and composed, his padawan heard Koal’s word’s in a tone he had never heard before.

    “But – what.”

“Damien! Don’t question me. You have been a fine padawan but it is time I face this darksider alone. Complete this mission without me. After I have defeated this Sith I will find you back on Coruscant."

Koal turned his body slightly, his head glancing at the platform’s only entrance. The darksider would arrive any moment. The ship had to go now. The young padawan turned his body with great resistance, biting his lip as he moved deeper into the ship. Instantly the ships ramp went up and the diplomatic ships engines ignited taking it into the sky. The storms were bad but it would find its destination – that was so long as there wasn’t a certain darksider following it. Turning his whole body now Koal faced the empty sky. The Jedi Master was tall, 6’1 to be precise and a solid athletic build. He parted his robes before sliding them off to the floor revealing a black tunic and a belt equipped with two lightsabers at his hips. His head was shaved in a militant cut and his face was covered in black stubble. Koal gripped both lightsabers in each hand and took a slow deep breath. He could sense his old friend had arrived.

The flight of steps gave way to immobility as life and death began to ascend them. The lone Jedi left atop the platform would first be able to make out the small black shape, but as it rose one step after the other it would give way to a body garbed in Sith robes. It climbed the staircase that would lead it to death, either its own or that of its enemy’s. Either would prove correct. The Sith halted itself twenty feet from its opponent, clothing billowing in the wind, the visage of blue eyes peering out of their shadowed depth. The figure’s arms were at its sides, sleeves ending with leather gloves, trousers revealed in the opening of robes that ended with leather boots. The figure was motionless, ever observant, staring statue-still, grace an alien concept save for that of the coming of combat.

“So, this is where it begins. This is where it ends.”

The voice was masculine, plain in tone, offering nothing of emotion. Lightning crackled, and the Sith pulled his hood back with both hands, revealing short brown hair combed back and a light complexion. The air felt cool against his skin, comforting. He lowered his arms back to his sides, retrieving from his robes a silver lightsaber hilt in right hand. The man’s countenance was void of feeling as his gaze trailed after the ship in flight, landing back upon the Jedi with disinterest for his fleeing flock.

“If you’re done running, then, I’ll finally show you the true meaning of this galaxy. Save us they said, but it would not listen. Saevus they said, and I listened.”

With that, a red blade of three feet was ignited from the lightsaber hilt, tip toward the ground. A bare moment after, the Sith charged forward, legs propelling him toward his opponent, front parallel with front. Coming within five feet from foe, the Sith Lord abruptly sidestepped diagonally forward toward his right while twisting his body leftward, front aligning with opponent’s left flank. At the same time, he swung his lightsaber in his right hand horizontally from his right to left, intending to cleave through Koal’s body from his upper back below his left shoulder through his chest. The extension of the Sith’s sword-arm would cover the distance needed beyond the three feet of his blade’s length. In his repositioning, Regin intended to keep himself within five feet from his enemy during the step, left arm kept free at its side.

As Regin lowered his hood, Koal stared deep into his eyes piercing them with his own. It was clear from the Jedi’s expression he was here to bring an end to this conflict. Adrenaline pumped through his entire body but the Force balanced him perfectly. Observing Regin it took Koal a good few seconds to recognise him. Had Regin changed in appearance or had it really been that long since the two had last met? If history was to repeat itself Koal wouldn’t be alive for much longer, but there was an air of confidence about the Jedi Master. War had toughened him and he was stronger than he had ever been.

As Regin paced towards him, the sound of crackling and fizzing was heard as Koal ignited one bright blue lightsaber followed by his second matching weapon. He spread his legs, bending his knees slightly, waiting for Regin to begin his attack. As soon as the darksider moved to his left, Koal slid his left foot back in order to keep facing him head on. As Regin swung with his right arm, Koal swung his body, his left aiming to parry Regin’s blade head on, blades crackling as they connected with equal force. With the momentum of his whole body, he also swung his right arm following his left, only this attack was not aiming for Regin’s weapon but Regin’s free arm, just below where his elbow was specifically.

Regin was 6’00”, muscular build, his robes doing well to conceal that. Koal had swung his left lightsaber to meet his opponent’s, aiming to parry that blade away. However, Koal would find that his left lightsaber would strike thin air, inertia instantly binding his left arm to continue to his left. This was because, right before the two blades would connect, Regin had deignited his lightsaber. At the same time, Regin bolted his body forward, heading toward Koal’s front, who had purposely kept his own front aligned with Regin’s.

Concurrently, Regin shot his left hand forward and to his left, aiming to grab Koal’s right forearm, holding it in place, before the Sith’s left arm would be severed in two. Koal’s own right lightsaber had been swung toward Regin, also binding it inertia. Regardless of the grab working or not, by moving forward rapidly, Regin would step too far into Koal’s guard for his right lightsaber to connect with Regin. Once moving forward, and with his right lightsaber now moving behind Koal’s left lightsaber following its failure to connect with the blade that would no longer be there, Regin reignited his lightsaber, his own right arm also bound in its leftward path.

However, Regin reignited his lightsaber the moment he played upon the movement of his right arm the closer it came toward his front in its leftward path. At this time, he had stepped into Koal’s guard, and so he punched the tip of his lightsaber hilt forward toward Koal’s chest, reigniting the blade. The result would be instantaneous: the lightsaber’s blade would come out of the other side of Koal’s back, killing him. Propelling himself forward, Regin had also bent his knees slightly, torso only just hunching over.

All in all, Regin had seamlessly deignited his lightsaber just before it would connect with Koal’s left lightsaber, moved his body forward into Koal’s guard and shot his left hand out to grab Koal’s right forearm, before Koal’s right lightsaber could connect with Regin (who would be out of range regardless). If Regin managed to grab Koal’s right forearm with his left hand, Koal would be unable to use his right lightsaber. If Regin did not manage to grab Koal’s forearm, Koal’s lightsaber would still be useless in this moment, Regin too far into Koal’s guard, causing Koal’s right arm to connect with Regin’s left side instead of Koal’s lightsaber which would be jutting out away and behind Regin’s body. Meanwhile, in this same moment, Koal’s left lightsaber would be engaged in its leftward path, in no position to retaliate against Regin’s near instant speed toward Koal, five feet being covered in no time. Ultimately, Koal stood little chance of evading his own death.

Koal didn’t need his eyes to see what tricks Regin had attempted. He expected the strong sensation of their blades meeting but was instead met with thin air. Since he had only went to parry the blade his arm stopped somewhere to his left, his blue lightsaber also now de-igniting. But Regin’s movement Koal did not predict. To get a good grip on the Jedi’s forearm would be quite difficult but Regin would do enough at the very least to block it. As Regin’s body then followed his left arm, Koal shifted his body back a few inches but it wouldn’t be enough to save him. Out of instinct however, emerald sparks burst from the Jedi’s left hand and flew to darksider’s right arm and chest. With Regin’s weapon not yet ignited and his left arm occupied, he would be forced to take all the punishment of what the Jedi could muster. It certainly wouldn’t cause any long lasting damage, but it would be enough to stun Regin temporarily, allowing Koal to pull his right arm free and hop back creating more distance between them.

Sparks of energy stabbed their way into Regin’s body as a shocking wave to halt his movements, muscles tensing in seizure, arms prevented from furthering their goals. Koal had managed to defy the movement that might yet have ended his life, however the Sith recovered his body’s functions in a moment, the Force leaving no lingering feeling that would stunt further movement. However, Koal had cast the first spell of energy, putting a deal into it to more or less freeze its target in place, and Regin would wouldn’t forget his opponent’s drawing from his reserves so early on.

Recuperated, Koal further away from him, the Sith Lord intended to waste no time. With both fighters fronts’ aligned with each other, and as soon as Koal would have completed his hop, Regin darted forward to cover distance once more, left arm raised, hand held up in front of left shoulder, in a prime position to utilize the Force. Meanwhile, right hand was holding lightsaber hilt to the right side of his face, with the blade jutting out horizontally to Regin’s left, itself in a prime position to defend with. Upon reaching five feet from Koal, Regin abruptly shot his left foot diagonally forward to his left, leaning slightly into the same direction, a moment of which would make him appear to be stepping for Koal’s right flank.

However, the movement would prove to be a feign, for just as his left foot found floor Regin pushed off from it, using it as a burst of speed as he instead stepped diagonally forward toward his right, maintaining a five foot distance while twisting his body to have his front face Koal’s left flank. At the same time of this movement, Regin’s left hand found his lightsaber’s hilt below his right hand, concurrently swinging his weapon diagonally down from his right to left in both hands, the top section of the blade aimed to cleave into Koal’s left shoulder area and down, splitting his arm, coming out of the left side of his stomach area. Regin’s feet in this instance would be positioned with right foot just in front of left, legs spread slightly apart and knees bent slightly.

oal watched as Regin aimed to avoid any delay in combat and renew his attack after a momentary stun. Koal had opened up the distance but Regin was quick to close it again and act on the offensive. Koal's grip tightened in both hands, he wanted to move back further but he had to focus on Regin's imminent assault.

As Regin shot to Koal's left flank and began to swing downwards, Koal pivoted on his right foot, turning his body 90 degrees. Since Regin had aimed for Koal's left shoulder, the depth of the attack no more than his chest, the turn itself would disposition his body enough to avoid the entire strike.

As Koal turned his body, he pulled his left arm back but purposefully left it 10 inches or so in front of himself and his hand at waist height. Koal ignited the blade as he completed his turn, the blue blade aiming to hit the darksider directly in his right knee. As for Koal’s right arm, as the darksiders blade narrowly missed Koal’s chest, Koal thrust his right arm out aiming to pierce him in the heart.

Koal’s pivot had successfully allowed him to evade the Sith’s saber, since the top section of the blade rather than the front half would have connected with him, meaning the Jedi had more space to free himself. His right side had already been out of the saber’s path. Koal had begun his pivot as Regin had begun his attack. However, Koal would only begin his own two attacks once that pivot had ended. Regin held the time advantage on that front, further so since Regin would not try to redirect the course of his attack, spending neither time nor energy. Instead, the Sith’s attack followed through and ended up failing.

Observing Koal’s beginning his pivot, however, Regin reacted by stepping diagonally forward to his left, thus to Koal’s new right upon entering his new stance after pivoting. While stepping, Regin twisted his body in order to have his front perpendicular to Koal’s front. Regin’s step would ensure that Koal’s even instant ignition of his left lightsaber would pierce only the air and bring no harm to Regin in its thrust. Meanwhile, Koal had thrust his right lightsaber for Regin’s heart. Though Koal’s two attacks would occur after his pivot versus Regin’s attack, having come before Koal’s, Regin did not begin his sidestep as soon as Koal began his pivot. Instead, by the time Regin’s saber would be positioned downward, closer to the ground following the manner of its swing, Koal’s pivot would be ending and his attacks would begin; this is the moment that Regin began his step, right leg following left leg, evading Koal’s left lightsaber as it would miss its target.

The distance between the two men of five feet had been increased by Koal pivoting to align his left side where his right side would be; right side having been further away from Regin than Koal’s left side due to Regin’s previous attack at Koal’s left flank. This meant that Koal’s right arm would have to extend enough to reach its target. Regin wasn’t banking on distance, however; before Koal’s right saber could complete its thrust, Regin had stepped toward his new stance, the manner of which would have his left side (where his heart was closer to) move to the left of the oncoming saber, at the same time as Regin’s right side moving backward, also away from the oncoming saber, ensuring it would not be snagged instead. This was of course because Regin had twisted his body into its new alignment.

That new alignment would be the front of Regin’s body facing Koal’s extended right arm. At the same time as Regin’s beginning of his pivot, he used the momentum of his diagonally downward slash, lifting his arms while twisting his wrists so that the tip of his blade would be positioned at a diagonally downward slant by four inches from his wrists. Concurrently, this was part of an entire process of Regin’s swinging his saber vertically upwards. The result would be the blade cleaving Koal’s right arm in two from beneath it. Depending on how much that right arm was extended would determine what section of his arm would be cleaved in two. Meanwhile, Regin would retain a stance of his left foot in front of his right by one foot, knees bent slightly and feet spread slightly apart.
