There were plenty of sounds. Hooting, hissing, barking, screaming sounds, and yet no obvious source for any one of them. The jungle planet of Dromund Kass was certainly not welcoming to the soft flesh of most sentient life forms. Even the plant life was often dangerously sharp and poisonous let alone thinking about the creatures that resided there. Such a wretched planet of jungles, swamps and oceans made the perfect home for the Sith. They had been there now for almost thirty years and whilst their numbers were still small they were steadily increasing. There were many non-descript canyons that scared the planet and with the added shield of tall plant life and trees it made the perfect place to exist undetected and undisturbed by the galaxy. The Sith’s temples and living quarters were built at the bottom of one of these canyons and were two miles off a hidden hangar should they need to travel across the planet. Galactic travel and spacecraft’s were currently restricted to all Sith unless under direct orders of the Dark Lord. The last thing the order needed was one foolish Sith giving the Jedi knowledge of their existence.

The main temple was tall, grand and filled with both new and ancient technology. It had taken many years to reach this level, but the completed temple acted as a hub for all the remaining Sith. There were many communal areas, training rooms, libraries and living quarters. Currently in one of the intelligence rooms, The Dark Lord of the Sith, currently stood alone, back straight and arms behind his back as he observed a large screen displaying numerous maps of the galaxy and Dromund Kaas. Lord Carnvious was a naturally imposing sight. The chistori were a largely unknown species, but those that met one would instantly recognise them as reptilian. Carnvious’ scales were a light brown colour but purple markings covered the top of his head and snout. His jaw was wide and at least a dozen large teeth visibly escaping his mouth. The six foot five chistori currently wore a black militant space suit, and on top a chest plate that’s weight seemed to make no difference to his movement or stature. Around his waist was a large belt with two black hilted lightsabers dangling at either side of his hip. Carnivious simply watched the screen, its blue reflection hitting his cold face. It was nearly time.

((OOC: Post is open to all Sith! Before responding to this post you must have read the galactic story and this post here. Any questions or want to discuss your characters first feel free to private message me.))

Rain... ever present, never ceasing. The planet thrives in this ever pouring rain. The young Sith watches as lightning forks across the sky, providing the only natural light the planet's surface seems to have ever known. For years he'd dreamed of this day... the day he would enter the great temple as a Lord, rather than as a mere apprentice. He'd carved his way to this point, and he would carve much more if he so needed to. The corpse of his master lay within the jungle's depths; most likely torn to pieces by the various beasts dwelling within.

He wears black suit, a mixture of armorweave and thin plates of durasteel, emblazoned with gold trimmings, covered by a ceremonial robe and cloak; his cowl pulled up over the white and red cortosis helm. His body is covered completely; head to toe, shoulder to fingertip. One would think him overly cautious, or paranoid; but such a thought itself would prove their folly, for only a fool, or a very, very powerful Sith Lord, would dare wear less. His purpose here today was simple; he is to meet with the Dark Lord and learn of his purpose. No doubt a test would be incurred. There was always a test of some sort. Smiling to himself and stepping up the stone steps of the temple, the young Sith wonders how many would fall to his lightsaber before he earned his right to sit on the Dark Council...

Ahhh, so great is his ambition. It is his destiny, he knows this, he sees this. And he need only make the Dark Lord see this as well. As Darth Decivus walks through the temple halls, his red eyes dart back and forth, glimpsing and capturing the images of multitudes of apprentices and acolytes. Slaves crawl on their knees and serve their masters whatever so fits their fancy. His eyes rest briefly on a Lethan Twi'lek slave, but he averts his gaze and continues onwards. Eventually, he finds himself just outside an observatory station. He didn't need to ask; he could feel the oppressive weight that is the Dark Lord's power within the room. Gathering his wits and his gall, and ensuring his dual-bladed lightsaber is affixed properly on the clip on his waist, Darth Decivus enters the room.

He sees the Dark Lord standing alone, seemingly unaware; but he knows better. The Dark Lord always knows. Darth Decivus approaches the Dark Lord, and bends down to bow, dropping to place his left knee on the floor, and presses his right fist down as well. He lowers his head, not daring to look up at the Dark Lord unless otherwise instructed.

"My Emperor..." Darth Decivus speaks, his voice somewhat made mechanical by his helm. "I kneel before you, seeking to use my power in your name. Direct me, and so your command shall become truth."

Lord Carnvious remained motionless, his black eyes still staring at the blue screen which illuminated his scaly head. A few seconds would pass and Darth Decivus would wonder if his words were even heard. Slowly the chistori lowered his arms to his waist and turned his large body and head towards the young Sith.

    “Arise, Darth Decivus.”

Carnvious’s voice was impressively deep thanks to his enormous lungs which were typical of his species. His dark eyes looked down towards the young darksider. Since this chistori had no lips it made smiling difficult, or rather Carnivious was always blessed with a wide and sinister smile exposing his large teeth. He could recall Chiren as a Sith apprentice and wondering if he would even make it to knighthood. Now he was a recently knighted Sith Lord.

“You grow stronger Chiren but you will soon face obstacles greater than anything you have faced before. But you must show patience. A skill many Sith fail to acquire."

The Dark Lord turned back to the screen, his eyes resuming exactly where he was last looking.

“Tell me. What do you know of the Force Wars?"

At the Dark Lord's command, Darth Decivus rises, standing straight as a board. He momentarily contemplates his Emperor's question. He remembered the lessons well; and ingrained them as much as possible into his own studies.

"The Force Wars, my Emperor, was the time of truth." he begins. Using slight hand gestures, the young Sith extrapolates on what he knew of the subject. "Over twenty one thousand years ago, there were the followers of Ashla; the precursers to what would later become the Jedi Order. Their antithesis was a sect of Force users who followed a faith in the Force called Bogan. Those who followed Ashla feared the Dark Side, believing it best to shut it away. Others of their sect saw this as a waste, even dangerous; they believed that to shun the Dark Side would ultimately weaken them, and prevent them from properly protecting the Galaxy."

Darth Decivus pauses for a moment, recalling more of the lessons.

"Naturally, this led to strife, and split the Force users into two factions. This ultimately led to a civil war." Decivus continues. "For ten years, the Je'daii followers of Ashla, and the followers of Bogan, fought for supremacy on Tython. The Je'daii were victorious, and the followers of Bogan vanished; this victory led to the creation of the Jedi Order. Centuries would pass before those willing to embrace the Dark Side would arise, this time in the form of the Legions of Lettow."

Knowing the Dark Lord was not asking for anything beyond the Force Wars, the young Sith elaborates on the war.

"The Je'daii's fear of the Dark Side is what caused the war. The two beliefs could have intertwined, balance could have been achieved. But for all their spouting of peace and tranquility, the Je'daii hypocritically destroyed that which could have made them truly powerful."

Lord Carnivious could be heard musing to himself as if hearing the story for the first time or like a teacher pondering on the accuracy of such statements. Darth Decivus was of course correct, and it seemed like he knew Carnivious was going to make a point from this story somewhere.

“That happened many thousands of years ago. Now, just thirty years ago the Sith Order was on the brink of extinction."

The Dark Lord paused letting this point sink in. Turning away from the holographic board and back to Devicus he spoke again, his voice still ever deep and commanding. His eyes fixed on him with a casual manner.

“And now we have this temple. This planet. This order. Are you proud of what the Sith have achieved over the last 20 years?”

Darth Decivus listens to the Dark Lord. For a tense moment, he is unsure of what to say. For all he knew, the wrong answer could mean his death. But he cannot fear; he must not. Again gathering his gall, the young Sith answers truthfully.

"To say I am proud would not be entirely truth, my Emperor." Darth Decivus replies. "It is as you say, we have this temple, this planet, and our Order. But the fact that the Order was so close to annihilation can only give me one assertion; the Order was weak. It survived by running away; turning tail like a whipped kath hound pup."

Speaking clearly and honestly was his only option, and a gamble at that. As such, Decivus continues.

"The achievement here, on Dromund Kaas, is that what was left of the Old Empire managed to come together under your rule, when they could easily have turned on one another." Decivus continues. He raises a hand, palm up, to chest level to accentuate his next words. "You have built our new foundation; but it is what we achieve now and in the future that we should look to, my Emperor. I take pride in our potential; what is to come."

The Dark Lord remained silent and motionless as Decivus spoke, not even flinching as he finished. After a long moment of silence, Lord Carnvious slowly walked closer to Decvius, again no words escaping his large mouth. Stopping just feet from Decivus, he could now really see the height and size of the chistori. His jaw tightened and then a quiet laughter escaped his breath. He had said the truth. If Decivus was proud of this Order he would be cast aside. He spoke again, his voice deep but incredibly calming.

"Quite true – only we have nothing to be proud of yet. We live here, on this small rock, whilst the Jedi roam the galaxy free. But why? Because they condemned us – They gave us the death penalty but we took this option instead.”

Lord Carnivious paused before turning his body back towards the map.

“Do you see the galaxy. The republic remains strong in shape but it is just a rouse. The Hut Cartel is under new leadership, a Zabrack would you believe and the Mandolrians are waiting – waiting for something. As for the Jedi they continually take small steps to restoring their relationship but they have lost too many men…” turning back to Decivus, Carnivious raised both his arms and places his hands on the Sith’s shoulders, gripping them with a gently strength.

“Are you ready Decivus, to avenge the great Sith that were killed, and put your name down in history?”

Darth Decivus nods; this is what he had dreamed after! His pain, his toil, his blood; all spent for this moment, the Dark Lord's recognition.

"The injustice done to us will be avenged, my Emperor." Decivus replies. "The Republic and the Jedi will pay for their transgressions, and at last, the Sith shall reclaim what is rightfully ours."

Acardues Dagon was waiting in the shadows that were cast by the temple, he preferred the dark shadows. He felt like being seen was giving up the element of surprise. He looked around at his surroundings. He had only been a member of the Sith Order for five years, but he already felt a burning pride for it, and he had an unquenchable thirst to prove himself. He had only been at the Temple for a short amount of time, he felt as if though the people that had been there longer than him looked down on him.

Acardues took in a breath a fresh air. He closed his eyes as he walked into the dim sunlight. He had decided that he wanted to get some target practice. He looked at the targets. He was standing 20 meters away from the nearest one, he retrieved the bow from his back. He knocked an arrow and held his breath, he let the arrow fly, it hit dead center, he repeated the process until he got to the target that was 60m away. He relaxed his arms and took in a deep breath. "One day," Acardues whispered.

With the Dark Lord's approval, Darth Decivus' belief that he is destined to join the Dark Council and lead the Sith Empire back into galactic dominance is further bolstered. Even now, his mind races with what to do first, what planets to invade, and what factions could be manipulated. Already the galaxy had endured two wars, how many more could it sustain before the Republic became too crippled to go on? How long before the Hutts were finally stomped into the dirt?

Already, the young Sith was considering how best to weaken the galaxy in preparation for the Sith Empire's return. But there was no rush; time is on their side, and events on a galactic scale take much time to implement. He would need to discuss these plans with the Dark Lord once he managed to sort out what can wait, and what needs to be put into motion soon.

    “Excellent.”

The Dark Lord withdrew his scaly hands and claw like finger nails. The chistori turned away from Decivus and walked over to a table on the other side of the room. He then returned holding a data pad and after tapping away at it he outstretched his right arm offering it for Decivus to take.

“I have a special mission for you, one that you cannot fail. I want you to fly to Yavin and go to the exact location I have provided. It’s an old Massassi temple. Once there you will need to search for a holocron – the holocron of Force Scream. Learn this ability if you can but be careful not to cause too much attention to yourself. Once you have done this, return to me with the holocron intact.” The Dark Lord paused letting his words sink in. He didn’t like to repeat himself.

“I assume you know how to use Force Stealth? You must not let any Jedi know of your existence or you risk ruining all our years of work and preparation. If you do come across any trouble – kill them or kill yourself.”

The Dark Lord stared into the young Sith Lords eyes. Whilst he had earned the title, it was time to prove he deserved it.

Darth Decivus lays his right hand over his heart and bows his head respectfully.

"I will not fail you, my Emperor." the young Sith replies. In truth, he had never learned the Force Stealth technique; he'd never had to. In situations, even hostile ones, he had managed to steer his enemies and allies in ways that usually resulted in his harm never being a factor. Secretly, he hoped to encounter a Jedi; the chance to bury his lightsaber into a Jedi's heart is tantalizing. "I shall leave at once."

He reaches forward and accepts the datapad, tucking it under his left arm. Offering another bow of his head, Darth Decivus turns away from the Dark Lord, intending to accomplish his task as quickly and efficiently as possible. Moving quickly, the young newly anointed Sith Lord heads through the temple, and finally outside. The storms above rage and howl, but leave the Sith unperturbed. For he has a mission, however strange a task it may be. He stops suddenly, closing his eyes, focusing on the Force. The rain strikes at him, but with his armor and robes covering him head to foot, he doesn't feel it.

Was this the first step towards becoming a member of the Dark Council, the young man wonders? Start small, gather artifacts; conquering worlds comes later.

Darth Decivus takes a deep breath; inhaling the purified oxygen pumping into his helm. He turns to look back at the temple once more, steeling his resolve. He isn't worried; quite the contrary, he is excited. Few are allowed to leave Dromund Kaas for fear of premature discovery by the Republic and the Jedi Order. To be given permission to leave the planet by the Dark Lord himself is proof enough of his importance to the Sith. Did the holocron matter so much, though? It would be interesting to find out.

Not wanting to make the Dark Lord wait longer than needed, the young Sith Lord makes his way through the rain and finally arrives at a clearing. Resting untouched within the clearing is the Silent Dagger. Equipped with state-of-the-art hyperdrive and sublight engines, as well as a prototype cloaking generator. Even if he himself could not disappear into the Force, he can at least make it impossible for any potential enemies to see him coming. Decivus remotely lowers the boarding ramp and enters. With the flick of his wrist, Decivus closes the ramp with the Force. He walks past the holoprojection table and seats himself in the pilot's seat in the cockpit.

Decivus goes through the preflight sequences, and activates the ship's repulsors. With a roar of the engines, the Silent Dagger rises from the surface of Dromund Kaas, and into the skies. For the first time, Darth Decivus lays his eyes on the open space beyond the raging dark clouds of his homeworld. But he has no time for awe; Decivus connects the datapad the Dark Lord gave him to the ship's onboard navicomputer. It makes a sharp sound, acknowledging the new coordinates. With his destination set, Decivus activates the hyperdrive. Stars streak, and the galaxy warps before his eyes. And with a flicker of pseudo-motion, the Silent Dagger vanishes from the Dromund System...

Acardues looked at the targets that he had just shot. He wanted to serve the Sith Order any way that he could. He looked up at the temple, he knew that somewhere in the temple, sat the Sith Lord.

Unconsciously Acardues's feet began to subconsciously move and before he knew what he was doing he was near the Sith Lord's chambers. He stopped for a moment, he wondered if he should really be doing this. He made a decision and entered the room.

Acardues knelt down on one knee and lowered his head. "My Lord, I know that it is not really my place to come before you. But I was wondering if there was anything that I could do to aid the Order back to power."

The Dark Lord returned to his previous position, his attention back on the galactic map. There some something in the Force that intrigued him but he couldn’t quite identify its cause or source. Decivus’ mission may have appeared a simple one but often the simplest of things revealed to be something quite different. As Lord Carnivous continued to muse on such thoughts, his concentration was broken as he felt a darksider approach him. Acardues would enter only to see the back of the Dark Lord. Despite the young Sith’s words Lord Carnivous did not move. There would be a long pause in which Acardues would wonder if the Dark Lord had heard him – although surely he would have at least sensed his presence behind him. The chistori slowly twisted his body, his wide sinister smile revealing his many sharp teeth. He spoke, voice carrying its usual weight and depth in tone.

“A Sith apprentice takes an audience with the Dark Lord with no invitation?”

The Dark Lord finished turning his body now facing the apprentice head on. He slowly walked forwards, his large body becoming even bigger as he drew closer to Acardues. Eventually he would stop just a few feet away and fold his large arms as if deciding what fate would have in store for the young Sith.

“Rise. Tell me your name and story. Tell me what skills you possess...”

Acardues followed the Dark Lord's command, he rose from his kneeling position and started speaking "My name is Acardues Dagon, my Lord. I was born as a slave on Tattooine but I managed to escape that life, I spent much of my time after that improving my skills as an assassin, eventually I killed the man who had enslaved me, then followed the call to the Dark Side that led me to this planet." Acardues paused for breath before continuing. "By trade I am an assassin, I work with the shadows."
Acardues hoped that this was enough to answer the Dark Lord.

    "Hmmmmm.”

The Dark Lord may no attempt to hide his pondering, his large throat and lungs echoing the sound throughout the room. His eyes narrowed on the young Sith, his gaze attempting to pierce right through him and see where his destiny lay. Eventually he would speak in his typical commanding tone.

“Do you understand the difference between an assassin and a warrior? A warrior is strong, robust and acclimatised to combat – an assassin is not. A true assassin does not rely on strength but stealth and deception.”

The Dark Lord slowly turned his body and walked to the other side of the room. He stood silent for a moment as he looked over the galactic map.

“There is one thing you could do for this order but I am uncertain if you are ready or capable.”

Acardues was about to respond that he knew, he was not particularly strong. He stuck to the shadows most of the time. Then the Dark Lord spoke again.

Acardues thought for a moment before replying "My lord, you may have concerns about my abilities. But I am eager to prove myself to you and the Order. I would rather die than fail you, my lord."

Acardues hoped that this would be enough to please the Dark Lord.

There was one thing that Acardues said that resonated through the Dark Lords mind. One word in particular would sway him to seeing the young Sith from a new perspective. Lord Carnivous raised his hand up and ran his index finger down the galactic map as he spoke.

“The Jedi Order is growing in size and power. The stronger they become and the more ties they create with the republic the more difficult a foe we will face...But they are not our only enemy.” The chistori halted his words momentarily but his sharp finger nail continued to run down the map until eventually stopping in the area occupied by the Hutt Cartel. “It is my intention to send someone from this order to go and infiltrate the Cartel. Join them as one of them – hide all existence of the Force. From there they will either extract crucial information from the organisation or attempt to assassinate their leader.”

Lord Carnivous turned his body and began to approach Acardues. As he reached him he arced his back and lowered his large head so their faces would be closer together, but still with the chistori looking down at him. Acardues would get a good look at the chistori’s scaly skin and many teeth that escaped his wide jaw.

“If they discover you are a darksider and capture you – you risk ruining everything this order has been building over the last thirty years. There is only one escape – and that’s taking your own life with your own blade.” The chistori paused, eyeing Acardues for fear or hesitance. “Do you think this is something you could do or have I asked too much?”

Acardues held his breath as he listened to the Dark Lord talking, the Hutt Cartel was a big faction in the galaxy. People were always joining it, he could probably pass off as a mere Recruit for a while. Acardues continued listening until the Dark Lord reached his final line of speech. Acardues made no hesitation to reply.

"My lord, I have no experience as a mercenary or a bounty hunter. But I could probably infiltrate the Hutt Cartel as a spy. I could feed them false information to weaken them, and then I could extract some information from their databases then mysteriously disappear from the Cartel, and for all they know the galaxy."

Acardues could only see one little hole in the system "But my Lord, I think that they leader of the Cartel will be well guarded, he may be hard to assassinate. But that is if the Hutt Cartel are smart about how they use their resources. If he is not well guarded then it would be a simple task, that could be easily done. But if he is well guarded then I may have to work my way into his inner circle, which may take some time. You have not asked to much of me my Lord, but if by some chance I fail, I will take my life to protect this Order and what we have worked towards."
